  • Nov 11, 2024: This week is Fanny Hensel’s 219th birthday! Celebrate with Das Jahr Four-Hands Piano. This is my own arrangement of the full 1842 version of Hensel’s epic cycle Das Jahr, available as an instant PDF download from the store.

  • Nov 4, 2024: Major update to the Das Jahr page published.

  • Aug 2, 2024: New collection of solo piano works published today. Now, all of Fanny Hensel’s finished piano works are available as free PDFs online.

  • June 28, 2024: A new collection of 13 vocal works published today: Accompanied duets for treble voices.

  • May 14, 2024: New versions of all three 1844 piano duets uploaded: v1.4 of H406, H408, and H409. And a new autograph has been uploaded to the Berlin Archive; Notturno Napolitano (1840?) has been linked in the piano works directory.

  • Apr 15, 2024: Six new scores have been added today across four collections: Two works (H253 and H269) were added to the Transitions collection; the Neobaroque and Studies in Form collections each gained a new score (H273 and H396, respectively); and two Bagatelles from 1837 (H310 and H311) comprise a new collection.

  • Feb 2, 2024: New collection published today: Piano Duets. With this release, scores for all of Fanny’s surviving, completed works for instrumental ensemble are now available for free online!

  • Jan 8, 2024: We have just published the Overture in C (H265) as a collaboration with ComposHer. This is our biggest project to date and includes an orchestral score and 16 parts. Happy new year!

  • Nov 23, 2023: Fixing typos in old scores. New versions of H391 (v2.1) and H393 (v2.1) uploaded.

  • Nov 13, 2023: The last of Hensel’s 15 keyboard exercises, Allegro di molto in C Major (H108), has been added to the existing Keyboard Exercises collection. This piece is not in the Berlin library’s digital collection, but thanks to your donations I have been able to purchase a scan of the manuscript to make the edition available to you.

  • Oct 17, 2023: Fixing typos in old scores. New versions uploaded of Klavierbuch (H214 v2.0), and a few months from Das Jahr: February (v2.1), July (v2.2), August (v2.2), October (v2.1), and November (v2.4). Also, newly uploaded autographs from the Berlin Archive have been linked in their respective directories; MA Ms. 31 has 36 lieder and part songs, all of which are already available in other manuscript collections.

  • Sept 6, 2023: Third and final installment of Fanny’s childhood piano compositions published today.

  • Sept 4, 2023: Newly uploaded autographs from the Berlin Archive have been linked in their respective directories. Piano works: Duett für Tenor und Sopran, mit den Fingern zu singen (H269). Lieder: An die Ruh’ (H201) and Nachtwanderer (H397).

  • July 11, 2023: New collection released today: A Cappella Duets. This is HenselPushers’ first collection of Hensel’s vocal music.

  • July 10, 2023: Several of our editions are now available in braille thanks to brailleorch.org! As of today, braille editions of HenselPushers scores are linked on the download pages for Hensel’s piano quartet (H55), string & piano duets (H72, H238, H247), early sonata compositions (H44, H113, H128), and the illustrated manuscript version of Das Jahr (H385). We are planning more collaborations in the future, so if your favorite score is not yet available in braille, let us know!

  • Jun 4, 2023: New edition of H463 (Op. 8, No. 2) provided by Megan Lavengood, Ph.D. of George Mason University. Thank you Megan!

  • Apr 21, 2023: New collection of early piano pieces, written by Fanny at ages 17-18.

  • Mar 31, 2023: Two new Bach-inspired pieces added to the Neobaroque collection, written by Fanny while she and Felix were working on the St. Matthew Passion revival in 1827-28.

  • Feb 17, 2023: New collection posted today: Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel’s earliest solo piano pieces, written ages 14-15.

  • Feb 8, 2023: Fixing typos in old scores. New version of H385-11 uploaded to correct the rhythm in the left hand in measure 148.

  • Jan 20, 2023: New collection released today: Fanny Hensel’s earliest surviving work in the piano sonata genre. With this publication, all of Hensel’s completed, surviving piano sonatas are now available for free online.

  • Nov 14, 2022: It’s Fanny Hensel’s 217th birthday! Today we release Hensel’s complete surviving String & Piano Duets. This collection includes one duet for violin & piano and two duets for cello & piano. Thank you to violinist James Woodrow and cellist Miranda Wilson for collaborating to create annotated performance editions of these works!

  • Oct 15, 2022: New version of H304 uploaded (v2.1). Previous version was missing a flat on the E on beat 4 of measure 104. Measure 46 was also missing a probable tie between beats 1 and 4, which has been added.

  • Oct 12, 2022: Newly uploaded autographs from the Berlin Archive have been linked in their respective directories. Piano works: Sonata in G minor (H395), and an additional version of the first movement of Klavierbuch (H214). Instrumental works: Overture in C Major (H265).   • Sept 23, 2022: New collection released: Transitions 1829-30. This collection includes both of Hensel’s completed works for organ in addition to works for solo piano. Thank you to Andrea Hartenfeller for reviewing the organ scores!

  • Aug 19, 2022: New piano collection released: Creative Freedom 1836-39.

  • July 16, 2022: New chamber music edition released: Piano Quartet 1822. All three of Fanny’s large scale chamber works are now available for free online!

  • May 24, 2022: New piano collection released: 14 Keyboard Exercises 1822-24 — 14 short studies in technique Fanny wrote as a teenager.

  • May 14, 2022: New version of string quartet (H277 v2.1) uploaded. Previous version had two errors in the first movement. Corrected version includes a flat on D in measure 39 for the 1st violin, and a G instead of an A-flat as the first note in measure 42 for the viola.

  • May 13, 2022: HenselPushers’ first chamber music edition released today: String Quartet 1834. Thank you to Benjamin Southwick of Durham University for help editing this score!

Previous edition of H352 had dotted quarter notes instead of repeated 8th notes in the inner voices in beats 1 & 2 of measure 16.

  • Sept 21, 2021: Directory of Fanny Hensel’s part songs and choral works posted! This is the 4th and final directory, and the site now lists all of Hensel’s known compositions.

  • Sept 7, 2021: revisions to several pieces in the Ten Piano Pieces 1836-1837 collection: H303 (v3.0), H304 (v2.0), H308 (v2.1), H321 (v1.4), and H322 (v2.0.1) have all been updated with minor changes to notation or layout. H313 (v3.1) had an incorrect accidental in measure 63.

  • Aug 30, 2021: New version of H410 (v1.4) uploaded. Previous edition had a B instead of an A as the first note in the left hand in measure 98.

  • May 14, 2021: Annus Mirabilis 1846 (piano) collection added—with this release, HenselPushers has more than DOUBLED the number of Hensel piano scores available for free online!
