Das Jahr / The Year (1841)

Das Jahr (German for “the Year”) is a groundbreaking cycle of 12 pieces characterizing the 12 months of the year, plus a short postlude, composed by Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel in 1841.

Order HenselPushers’ easy piano arrangement of the Das Jahr cycle and companion lesson book for intermediate-level pianists of all ages.

Hensel’s original virtuosic work is technically demanding and only approachable for advanced pianists, so I made this arrangement to put this incredible cycle within reach for more pianists.

With this publication, HenselPushers realizes an original goal of the initiative—to publish educational music resources that would broaden the range of ages and skill levels able to engage with the work of Fanny Hensel.

Proceeds support HenselPushers’ ongoing work to provide free PDFs of Fanny Hensel scores.
