Gondelfahrt / Serenata in g minor
Fanny Hensel wrote “Gondelfahrt” (translation: “Boat Ride”), while in Venice in 1839 toward the beginning of her family’s yearlong trip through Italy in 1839-1840. The work is a counterpart to another work in the barcarolle style, Notturno H337, which she wrote before departing Berlin.
