Capriccio. Humoristisch und etwas ironisch in F-sharp Major

This is one of Hensel’s later childhood compositions, written in 1826, and one of Fanny’s most unusual pieces. The piece is to be played “humorously and somewhat ironically”, and begins with chromatic flourishes in the first theme followed by a more lyrical second theme. Fanny’s composition seems to have influenced Felix’s piano sonata in B-flat op. 106, written the next year (compare m57 of Hensel’s piece to m58 of the sonata’s first movement).
