Capriccio. Humoristisch und etwas ironisch in F-sharp Major

This is one of Hensel’s later childhood compositions, written in 1826, and one of Fanny’s most unusual pieces. The piece is to be played “humorously and somewhat ironically”, and begins with chromatic flourishes in the first theme and more romantic lyricism in the second theme, reminiscent of Beethoven’s opus 110 sonata. Fanny’s composition in turn seems to have influenced Felix (see the second theme of the first movement of his Piano sonata in B flat, op. 106).
