Abschied von Rom / Ponte Molle in a minor

One of three works inspired by Fanny Hensel’s favorite sites in the Rome, this work was written in 1840 during her family’s yearlong trip to Italy in 1839-1840. Abschied von Rom (“Farewell to Rome”) was first titled “Ponte Molle” for the Milvian Bridge, the last waystation for travelers leaving the Eternal City.
