A Cappella Trios

For three unaccompanied voices

This collection includes all of Fanny Hensel’s known compositions for three unaccompanied voices, composed over a span of nearly 20 years—between 1829 and 1846. As with most of Hensel’s (and indeed most of the German Romantics’) poetry-based compositions, the themes center on nature or lost love—and often both. The fachs that Hensel specified are listed after each title, but second soprano parts are typically closer to alto range, and baritone parts can be sung by tenors. This collection was created in collaboration with Chloe Abeyta.
