Präludium in G Major — Wedding Recessional

On October 2, 1829, the night before her wedding, Fanny Hensel couldn’t find the music to the piece she had intended to use as a recessional after the ceremony. She had written a processional a few days before because Felix had not completed the one he had agreed to write for the occasion. So, during the Polterabend celebration that evening, she sat down “in the presence of all the guests” and began writing this work. She finished it after midnight on her wedding day. It was her second ever composition for organ, and the last one she completed.
